Answers to the things people actually ask, and a way to reach us.
Getting started
Download VideoCat for macOS or Windows, open it, and paste
a video link into the bar at the top. Pick a quality, and the file lands in your download
folder and in the in-app Library. There is no account to create.
Updating
VideoCat checks for updates on launch and tells you when one is available. Because site
support changes constantly, updating is the single most useful fix when a
link stops working. You can also re-download the latest build from the
home page and install it over the top — your library
and settings are preserved.
Troubleshooting
Most often the site changed something on their end. Update to the latest version first — site fixes ship constantly. If the newest version still fails, send us the link and we will take a look.
Some sites throttle per connection. Raise the segment count in Settings → Downloads; four to eight segments usually saturates a home connection. If you are on a VPN, try without it.
Settings → Downloads shows the folder and lets you change it. The in-app Library indexes whatever is in that folder, so moving files out of it removes them from the Library but not from your disk.
That is Gatekeeper reacting to a quarantine flag on a freshly downloaded app. Right-click the app and choose Open, then confirm. If it persists, re-download from this site rather than a mirror.
VideoCat can only save subtitles the source actually publishes. Auto-generated captions are included when the site exposes them; burned-in subtitles are part of the video image and cannot be extracted as a file.
Yes. Paste the playlist or channel URL and VideoCat offers to queue every item, with a per-item quality choice.
On macOS, drag VideoCat from Applications to the Trash. On Windows, use Add or Remove Programs. Your downloaded files stay where they are; delete the download folder separately if you want them gone too.
